Canadian Drug Insurance Pooling Corporation

Incorporated as a not for profit corporation in Canada in 2012, the corporation’s mission is help maintain sustainable drug coverage for Canadians and their employers by pooling the claims impacted by recurring high cost drugs from claimants belonging to fully insured drug plans of Canadian life and health insurance companies.

 

Membership in the corporation is open to:

Members of the CLHIA or those eligible to be a member of the CLHIA who are licensed to issue fully insured group health benefit plans and who have signed a membership Agreement.   A list of members can be found here.

 

Governance and Administration:

By-laws and powers of the Canadian Drug Insurance Pooling Corporation comply with Industry Canada standards.

The aspects of the agreement are overseen and managed the Board of Directors:

 

– Eligibility
– Termination
– Member rights
– Elections of the Board of Directors
– Compliance by members with the terms of the pooling framework
– Administration

 

The Board is made of up 12 members plus 1 Ex Officio (CLHIA).

 

The corporation also retains the services of an Executive Director to provide general administration and run the pooling process.
